Linda Caffee is the chairperson for our Driver Health Council, which is a sub group of our Trucking Solutions Group. The idea for the Driver Health Council came from one of our members, Scott Kinley. He realized that during many of our weekly conference call that many of our discussions were related to health issues. So much so that it was decided that we should form a second group to deal solely with issues relating to our health and that of our fellow drivers.
The Driver Health Council also meets weekly via a conference call. We have acted as a peer group for ourselves with regards to our health and report weekly on how well we have performed against goals set the previous week. Goals include weight loss, exercise/workout accomplishments and eating habits just to name a few.
In 2010 our Driver Health Council conducted four “first of it’s kind at a truck show” Health Awareness Walks at the Mid America Trucking Show in Louisville, Ky. , the Great West Truck Show in Las Vegas, Nv., the Great American Truck Show in Dallas, Tx., and the Expedite Expo in Wilmington, Oh. The idea for the walks originated with Linda Caffee’s daughter Brandy.
In 2011 in addition to conducting our Health Awareness Walks we will be conducting Blood Drives in partnership with The American Red Cross at as many of the truck shows as possible.
